I’m an architectural historian and amateur astronomer, originally from the far left corner of the United States, now settled in Maynard, Massachusetts. My days are spent in north Cambridge, where I work as the observing editor for Sky & Telescope. My academic research (my full CV can be found at snjr.net) focuses on the history of astronomical observatories in India and the role those structures played in the production and mobility of knowledge during the global eighteenth century. I am currently at work on a book project, Science Made of Stone, and recently spent four weeks conducting research on the architecture of early solar physics at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics in Bangalore.
